I had a neighbor of mine pass away and all of her family lived out of state. When her brother came down to start taking care of her belongings and clean out the house. I went over to lend a helping hand. One day he started looking for a local Realtor so he can put the home up for sale. As he was searching the internet he came across my name. He then asked me if I was a Realtor and when I said yes he asked me why I didn't mention that when we first met. I said "Because I didn't come over here as a Realtor, I came over as a neighbor to lend a helping hand during a ruff time". I then told him "I believe in relationships over transactions". Needless to say he did give me the opportunity to sell the home. He had to head back home before everything was done and I told him that I would handle everything for him. I finished cleaning out the house and making arrangement with local charities to come and pick up all the house hold items.Took care of the sale of his sisters car, shuttered up the house when we were under a hurricane warning, and since it was right across the street, I maintained the lawn as well. Pretty much treated the house as if it were my own. By the time everything was said and done. He was extremely happy with what I did for him. He told me that because of the fact that I took care of everything the way I did. It took a weight off his shoulder and he was able to focus more on the family and manage the final arrangements for his sister.
