Once I was asked to go to a home and evaluate the marketable value of a young married couple's home. Their daughter was only two years old, and was a bundle of energy! As I began asking questions and understanding the financial goals of the couple, it became evident that there was a lot of tension in the room. As we unpacked the goals, it was discovered that the husband and wife were in the process of getting a divorce. Financially, the home had to go so they could separate. They were both sad, and broken. It was in that moment, that I knew God had brought me to this home for a reason. I shut my file and market information, slid them into my backpack, and began talking to them about the joy that God intended to give them in their marriage. They were able to hear that God's plan for them is repentance and restoration, with Him first, and in their marriage second. Our conversation was brief, and I prayed with them before leaving. I followed up a week later to find out that they had sought out marriage counseling, and that my services would no longer be needed as they sought restoration! Losing a sale never felt so good!
