Indianapolis homes in private ownership that are on the National Register are more than rare. Having grown up in such a home, I had the great honor to represent a very special home in Irvington. The house had a long history of many "improvements" that were not in keeping with the original character or its importance. I attracted a young couple interested in taking on the long process of bringing the house back to a state of glory. We spent many hours examining all the features of the house, noting what was original, what improvements were well executed and which were a mistake. Today, it is a great example of one of the City's historic renovations.
