7541 FM 1195 Mineral Wells. I received a call from a gentleman stating I was referred to him to handle his fathers estate. His father had passed the previous May and the probate was done but he had no clue where to go from there. He was stationed at Camp LeJune and no way to maintain and pay for two homes.
We came out in November and signed off on the paperwork to start everything post holidays. We held an estate sale for him and emptied out the property. It was during the cleanout that I found out his father was a former law enforcement officer that I knew back in the 90's when I was in law enforcement. We had crossed paths a few times.
We were able to get him enough money from the estate sale to finish out some work needed on the house. As a result, we were able to list the home for nearly 50k more than anticipated. In the end, he netted more than his father had paid for the property and I was able to help him close that chapter and on to the next.
There was something deeply satisfying about the 6 degrees of separation and putting the family at ease and getting them to where they needed to be. Everybody goes home (police training motivational class motto) and Semper Fi.
